Good post Dave. I found a tool called a Serdi Micro 2000 while doing a search on guide and seat machines. SBdave or Frank, would a hand crank machine tool like this with carbide tooling be adequate for a "backyard" or "homeshop" guy like me or would Sioux equipment be better. I'm assuming the cost of these two are similar. Thanks.
Like the Micro 2000, pressure exerted to turn the tool has to be kept even. It's not difficult to turn out nice work with a little practice and patience. As far as angles are concerned, I've seen that Neway is now offering a lot of new choices. Try them on the flow bench, and if it looks good on the bench, try it on the track.

I have the Serdi Micro 2000 with head to cut valves from 1-2.5 inches. Best results will be achieved when working with good valve guides so I'm currently trying figure out the what my option are. Right now, I'm leaning towards the .500 replacement guides, depending on if the seat/guide machine is absolutely essential.
